Police were spread across the area Thursday afternoon as officers were negotiating with a warrant suspect barricaded inside a house under construction just east of Garfield High School.
In an incident underway on 26th Ave for nearly two hours, police were reporting updates on making verbal contact with the man who had broken into the construction site and hidden from police inside the house, according to East Precinct radio.
Police officers surrounded the under construction structure and at one point were using a loudspeaker to try to contact the man.
The suspect was taken into custody just before 2:30 PM.
Nearby Garfield High’s campus was not locked down during the response.
