If the Blue Angels are not your thing, there are plenty of other activities to get outside and be part of across Capitol Hill this weekend. Here are a few highlights. You can always find more things to do — or add your own — to the CHS Calendar.
- THURSDAY: The Summer Series at the Amphitheater free concerts continue with “Seattle Super-Band” tribute group BeatlesConcert taking the stage starting at 6 PM in Volunteer Park.
- FRIDAY: Free movies in the park season continues with a screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show in Cal Anderson starting at 7:30 PM.
- SATURDAY: Volunteer Park hosts a night of free synthesize performances from Modular Seattle starting at 5 PM.
- SATURDAY: Stop by a mutual aid response to the madness above —
WATER NOT JET FIGHTERS — Hate the Blue Angels? Want to help your neighbors instead? Cascadia Democratic Action is collecting funds and donations at its water bottle & N-95 mask drive for people living without shelter, noon-4 pm Saturday Aug 1 at Cal Anderson park in Seattle.
I get the water bottles but — serious question — what are the N95 masks for?
For riding public transit and (I assume) for those in congregate shelters, crowded social-service waiting rooms and the like, where masks may not always be provided. I always carry one myself, though I seldom use it these days except on transit.
