One of the leading anti-gun violence groups in the nation will be holding a rally at Cal Anderson Park September 24th in support of a statewide gun control initiative appearing on the ballot in November.

Moms Demand Action will be supporting Initiative 1491 — a measure to create “extreme risk protection orders” which would allow families and law enforcement officials to petition courts to temporarily suspend a person’s access to firearms if the they are deemed to be threat to themselves or others.

The rally will feature Moms Demand founder Shannon Watts and Richard Martinez, whose son was killed in the 2014 shooting at U.C. Santa Barbara.

The Alliance for Gun Responsibly, which drafted the measure, has raised over $3 million for the campaign and received endorsements by the 43rd District Democrats and East Precinct Captain Paul McDonaugh. The organization also has some deep pocket donors, including Seattle venture capitalist Nick Hanauer and former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

The measure has polled exceedingly well statewide. In June, CHS asked candidates in the 43rd District state House race how they would address gun safety.

Earlier this month, Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced he would propose legislation next year the would ban the sale military-style assault weapons and high capacity magazines in the state.

Moms Demand Action will hold its I-1491 rally at Cal Anderson Park, September 24th at 3 PM.

And that is why the rest of the Country calls Washington, Oregon and California the “Left Coast”. A bunch of gun-hating gun-grabbing Democrat Liberals.
