2021’s Black Wall Street celebration
Memorial Day Weekend is most definitely not the start of Seattle summer — but you can start to think about it. Here are a few of the goings-ons planned around the neighborhood over the weekend. You can find more on the CHS Calendar — or add your own.
- THURSDAY MAY 26TH: The official opening weekend at MariPili begins Thursday with nightly 5 to 9 PM service through Sunday.
- FRIDAY MAY 27TH: Photographic Center Northwest hosts Moya Ridna: a fundraising exhibition and print sale for Ukraine through Sunday.
- MONDAY MAY 30TH: Africatown’s annual celebration marking the tragic 1921 attack on the community of Tulsa takes place at 23rd and Jackson with the 2022 Honoring Our Black Wall Streets Expo, with more than 200 businesses expected to take part in the day’s street festival.Monday also brings the annual Free Burger Day at Li’l Woody’s where they’ll start serving the (long!) line at 2 PM.
