  • Portage Bay body: Seattle Fire divers were called in Saturday to retrieve a body spotted in the waters of Portage Bay near Montlake’s Seattle Yacht Club. According to the Seattle Police brief on the Saturday morning incident, the victim appeared to have been in the water “for an extended time.” SPD says the Medical Examiner is investigating to determine the cause of death.

  • I-5 road rage shooting: A man was shot in the back and drove himself to First Hill’s Harborview Saturday in an I-5 road rage incident. SPD says the shooting occured south near the 161 exit and the victim was able to drive himself to the emergency room “with non-life-threatening injuries.” There were no reported arrests and no information was provided about the shooter or the suspect vehicle.
  • 25/Jackson gunman: Police investigated a reported armed robbery Sunday night in the Central District. SPD units were responded to the area around 25th and Jackson just after 8 PM to a report of an armed man. Arriving police identified two victims who said they were being confronted by two men wearing facemasks including one armed with a shotgun or rifle but were not robbed. One suspect reportedly fled on foot while the other left in a vehicle matching the description in a recent area shooting, according to East Precinct radio updates. SPD says it is investigating the matter as “unlawful use of a weapon.” There were no arrests.
  • Phone robbery: SPD investigated a reported phone robbery Sunday:
At 0937 hours a victim arrived at the East Precinct after a robbery at 10 Ave E/E John St. The victim was standing at a bus stop when the suspect grabbed her cell phone from her hand. The victim pushed the suspect to retrieve her cell phone, which caused the suspect to fall and drop the victim’s phone. The victim retrieved her cell phone and left the area as the suspect got onto a metro bus. An unidentified witness gave the victim a ride to the East Precinct as she fled the scene on foot. The victim sustained a minor injury and was screened by SFD.
  • Driver hits man on First Hill: Police and Seattle Fire were called to First Hill last Thursday night after a driver hit a man walking near Broadway and James. Seattle Fire says crews treated a 49-year-old who was in stable condition and paramedics transported him to Harborview for further treatment. There were no reported arrests in the collision.
  • The Rise fire: Seattle Fire was able to quickly take care of a November 5th fire inside E Madison’s The Rise — “the largest building constructed by any affordable housing provider in Seattle.” Crews were called to the 17-story building around 7 PM to a reported kitchen fire and quickly brought the situation under control. The “appliance fire” reportedly involved a refrigerator.
  • Halloween driver vs. bicyclist: A bike rider was struck by a driver Halloween evening at Broadway and Union. Seattle Fire says the 39-year-old rider was in stable condition and was transported to the hospital after the crash. There were no reported arrests in the collision.

“It aways sucks when we show up to work and find our storefront has been ‘tagged,'” Nue writes. “It’s even harder to know how to deal with when we agree with the message.”

  • Nue burglary: 14th Ave’s Nue reports it suffered a burglary Sunday morning, November 5th in the latest of what the restaurant’s owners say has been a string of crime in the area:
We had another break-in to our restaurant around 6am on Sunday morning. This is the 3rd within around a one year timeframe. In addition, we’ve had propane tanks, heaters and extension cords stolen right during service and our patio graffitied almost weekly. “We’re only two blocks from the police station and even when we report it to them they said there is nothing they can do, and tell us to file a report online. It’s super frustrating,” the Nue folks write.
