911 | E Pike stabbing, 20/Union hit and run, hate crime assault suspect busted after club to club chase

  • E Pike stabbing: A man was stabbed in the stomach, arm, and back and a male and a female suspect were chased down by police after an assault in the middle of E Pike nightlife crowds early Thursday morning. According to SPD’s brief on the incident and East Precinct radio updates, police were called to the area in front of Big Mario’s to the reported stabbing around 12:10 AM. SPD says witnesses reported an altercation between several men during which the female suspect stabbed the victim. The woman and and a man fled the area on foot but were quickly apprehended. Police say they chased the female suspect down after a brief chase near 12th and Madison where she also reportedly tried to ditch a knife. Police recovered the weapon and took the 37-year-old woman and 31-year-old man into custody after they were identified by witnesses at the scene. Police say the victim was treated at the scene and transported by Seattle Fire to Harborview in serious condition.
  • E Union hit and run: Police were unable to track down the vehicle after the driver of a SUV struck a woman crossing 20th and Union last Thursday. The victim fortunately suffered only what Seattle Fire described as a minor injury. The 6:30 PM hit and run had several witnesses near Chuck’s Hop Shop. Police were looking for a black GMC with no plates last seen northbound on 18th Ave. There were no arrests.
  • Warrant arrest: Multiple police units responded with guns drawn to the gas station at Broadway and Pike Tuesday afternoon for a “high risk” traffic stop of a suspect wanted on a felony warrant. The scene played out in the 76 station around 1 PM after officers spotted the suspect’s vehicle. Police were able to quickly clear the car of danger and took the suspect into custody without incident.
  • Club hate crime pursuit: A wild scene early Sunday morning stretched across Capitol Hill as police chased down a hate crime and assault suspect from club to club. Police were called to the Reverie Ballroom in the former Century Ballroom space around 1 AM Sunday to a report “of a man trying to get into an LGBTQ+ nightclub and posturing to fight security.”  “Shortly thereafter, the caller reported that he was now fighting with multiple people and trying to force his way inside,” SPD said. The suspect was soon reported outside club Massive on E Pine where he was described as frantic and covered in blood. With police in pursuit, the suspect and officers were reported running down Capitol Hill where the suspect was finally tracked down trying to enter Still Liquor on Minor just above downtown. The 23-year-old was arrested. Seattle Fire was called to the scene to treat an officer injured in the pursuit. Police say the suspect “put the victim in a headlock, strangled them, and caused multiple injuries while screaming anti-gay and anti-trans slurs” in the initial assault and was being investigated for possible hate crime charges.
  • 23rd/Cherry armed robbery pursuit: Police investigated an armed robbery near 23rd and Cherry last Tuesday afternoon. The June 3rd incident took place around 3:10 PM and nearby Garfield High School was alerted to the situation but did not need to be placed into security protocol. According to police, the victim in the street robbery returned to a nearby residence to report their phone had been taken at gunpoint. Police were authorized to pursue the armed robbery suspect as he fled in a White Acura but the chase was broken off by officers due to the suspect’s high rate of speed through heavy traffic. The suspect was last seen on I-90 just past Mercer Island.
  • Gun arrest: Police seized a handgun and arrested a woman after she was reported waving the weapon around while in the driver’s seat of a van Tuesday morning near 12th and Terrace:
    At 1000 hours, RP reported female subject waving handgun around while in the driver’s seat of a van. Officers arrived in the area and eventually located the described vehicle with the suspect matching the description in the driver’s seat. Officers conducted a felony stop and made contact with the driver, who was cooperative. The suspect admitted to having a handgun but denied any threats were made.
    Police arrested the suspect for felony harassment and “placed the handgun into evidence.”
  • Child uninjured after hit by driver: A child escaped major injuries after they were struck by a driver Monday evening near East Gwinn Pl and Harvard Ave E. According to SPD, the incident took place just before 5 PM. “An independent witness advised that the child ran into oncoming traffic and a vehicle struck the child,” SPD’s report reads. “Seattle Fire Department arrived on the scene and transported the child to Harborview for precautionary measures.”
  • University Bridge fall: A suicidal person was rescued from the waters of Portage Bay early Sunday after falling approximately 50 feet from the University Bridge. SPD says it was called to the area around 3 AM where the person was threatening to jump:
    Officers witnessed subject jumping off the bridge and into the water. East units maintained eyes on the subject and illuminated area. Harbor on scene and observed subject struggling on the surface with his head about to go subsurface. Harbor personnel were able to reach out, grabbed a hold of the subject’s hand as he was going under. Subject was brought aboard the boat and transported to a nearby dock to be evaluated by SFD.
    The person was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
  • Madrona car-pole crash: A group in a speeding vehicle luckily avoided serious injury after the driver lost control and smashed into a utility pole and residence near 34 Ave and E Howell Saturday night. SPD says the crash happened around 5:45 PM. “Witnesses of the collision stated that the vehicle was speeding northbound on 34 Ave and due to the speed lost control of the vehicle, causing impact to a light pole and a nearby residence,” Injuries were described as “minimal.” SPD reports SFD, King County Metro, SDOT SRT, and Seattle City Light all responded to the scene to deal with the aftermath and damage. The driver was cited for reckless driving.
  • Central District gunfire: Police investigated gunfire and bullet damage near 18th and Washington early last Thursday morning:
    At 0322 hours, officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the east precinct. Officers promptly arrived and canvassed the area where multiple shell casings were identified in the south side of a community parking lot. Officers also located a parked unoccupied vehicle with multiple bullet holes on the front. The scene was processed. Gun Violence Reduction Unit was later notified of the incident.
    Earlier that night, SPD investigated reports of shots fired near 24 Av S and S Lane where multiple shell casings were recovered.
