UPDATE 9/22/10 8:40 AM: Seattle Fire tells us the victim is a 60-year-old man and confirms that he fell from the building’s second-story balcony. He was transported to Harborview with what were described as life-threatening injuries following the fall. We have no update on his condition at this time.
Original report: Medical crews rushed to the intersection of East Thomas and Melrose Tuesday evening after a man who reportedly had been drinking fell from a balcony of a two-story, multiple residence building.
According to police radio reports, the man was conscious after his two-story fall. CHS has not confirmed the man’s condition with Seattle Fire.
The report of the fall came in just before 8 PM tonight and was originally believed to be a suicide attempt. Police officers responding to the call said the man had been drinking and accidentally fell from a balcony as the sun set on one of the last days of summer 2010.
