Burglars made off with $1,684 in cash after breaking into Padrino’s Pizza early Sunday, March 20, according to the police report. The door was also damaged during the burglary.

A passerby called police around 10 a.m. after noticing the door to the pizzeria at 10th Ave E and E Miller St was open. When police arrived, they noted the glass door had been broken and pushed in. The cash drawers for the register and a safe behind the counter had been broken and emptied. The office had also been ransacked, and cash was missing from several envelopes in one of the desk drawers. The total amount was estimated at $1,684.

Madison Valley business burgled
The same morning, an unidentified restaurant near 27th and E Madison was broken into and burgled. An employee arrived at work around 8:30 a.m. to find the door unlocked. The cash drawers were lying on the ground and the safe was damaged, but remained closed. Drawers in the office had been opened. There is no indication that this burglary has any connection to the one at Padrino’s.

The complainant said the burglar(s) must have cut the phone lines before entering the business because the alarm did not go off. The alarm company said they recorded the alarm being set the night before, but had no record of activity after that. The phones in the business were not working, either.
