A man told police he was held up by a group of three men as he tried to pass through Freeway Park Sunday night just before 9p. The report from SPD on the incident is below.
On August 14th, at approximately 8:50 PM, West Precinct officers responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred in Freeway Park, near 7th Avenue and Union Street. The adult male victim stated that he was walking up the stairs to go through the park when he passed three males hanging out at the bottom of the stairs. As the victim approached the 8th Avenue overpass inside the park, one of the suspects grabbed his arm from behind and pulled him. The suspect pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the victim’s face, and proceeded to rob him of his MP3 player. The suspects ran off northbound through the park. Officers and a K9 team responded and searched the area, but the suspects were not located. The suspects are described as black males, approximately 17-18 years old. Robbery detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
The last similar street robbery we’ve reported on CHS came at the end of July as a group was robbed at gunpoint while cross the Seattle U campus.

Yet another crime by young urban thugs with nothing going on in their lives.
About 3 months ago in the same area, 3 teenage black kids attempted to rob me. I specifically asked them if they had a gun and said if they didn’t we were gonna have to fight for my belongings. One said “lets stomp this white bitch” and punched me in the head. He barely connected and fell to the ground. I then began kicking him and his friends ran off, with him following as soon as I also tripped.
Im really hoping this doesn’t come off as internet tough guy nonsense but I’m just sick of inaction by the public and the police. Seattle is a city that prides itself on progress but does jack shit about anything.
That being said, nothing is worth your life. If you see a weapon you should probably comply as I definitely would have. And the kids are always more dangerous, old timers at least might have the wisdom to not shoot you over an ipod.
Seriously. An MP3 player? Wow, big haul. What losers.
Glad the victim wasn’t hurt, and can just go buy another MP3 player. And probably avoid Freeway Pk at night anymore. I sure will.
And you thought you could trust them to give an honest answer about whether or not they had a gun? I sure wouldn’t.
@calhoun
People who actually have guns to rob with show them, they dont talk about them.
