Capitol Hill journalist moves on

Photo: Joshua Trujillo/PI

A Capitol Hill icon is moving on — Seattle PI’s Kery Murakami is leaving the Hill: After 16 years of holding out on Capitol Hill — while my friends left the neighborhood for faraway lands such as Beacon Hill, or West Seattle, or Freelard (that area between Fremont and Ballard) — I’m finally leaving, too.

I first met Kery when he talked to us for this article. Since those early days when the blog was more a hobby than a business, I’ve run into Kery from time to time covering a story or when our paths crossed on trips across the Hill. He was always walking. Pretty much always had his j-school issued fedora on. Pretty much always in a bit of a hurry. I was hoping we’d find a way to team up on something Capitol Hill at some point. Guess, I waited too long. Your turn, Columbia City.

No offense to Columbia City, but a devoted ‘walker’ like Murakami will go insane driving to Safeway.

My favorite super-local reporter is leaving the Hill! Noooooooooooo!

Who will I send my local event press releases to now? :(
