Can’t guarantee street parties very often. VamoLá Drum & Dance Ensemble is going to try. Yeah, those are samba drums you’re hearing.

7:00–10:00pm
The vicinity of Broadway and Pine, Seattle
Join VamoLa as we drum up a Brazilian-street-style celebration of our new President’s Inauguration!
Meet at 7:00pm at the chrome statue in front of Seattle Central Community College, on Broadway, just north of the NW corner of Broadway & Pine.
From there, we will make our way West on Pine for a few blocks and then come back East on Pike back to Broadway, stopping periodically for music and refreshments on the way.
Drummers are welcome to bring their drums and play along. And everyone is welcome to dance!

Slog sez the crowd is on the move
It was a great night. We joined the crowd and loved that for one night no protest signs – just some left over Obama yard signs. A crazy collection of folks getting a chance to whoop and clap and LOVE a great day. As we left the crowd an elderly Hispanic man waved us over and said “Always remember this day” … “this GREAT day” I added … yes he nodded “this great day!”
I got up early to go to the Paramount, I danced up and down Pike/Pine, I celebrated with friends….so tired. So good. I actually woke up with hope in my heart instilled by our President. Wow.
Sounded a little rough in parts, but I am happy to learn you (Mitch) are banging the drums. OBama Day was truly a great time. My son Kirby who lives in Chicago was in Grant Park Election Night. I worry about what Jon Stewart will be doing for comedy content now that the Cheney Gang has left……..
I have been in Milwaukee since 2005 and cannot find as much drumming around…..still looking. I play percussion pretty much every day………………..Take care.
Check out this youtube video, it has more of the street parade:
