Follow Capitol Hill bike cops on patrol during Monday SPD ‘Tweet-along’ — UPDATE: Highlights

In the tradition of a media “ride along” where a journalist tags along with cops as they perform their duties and reports on the experiences of a typical patrol, you can ride along with East Precinct bike cops Ben Archer and Chris Brownlee as they broadcast their observations on the Capitol Hill beat Monday via the @seattlepd Twitter account. We’ll be following the patrol from the @jseattle account, too, of course, and offering the duo some useful advice, commentary and #FF even though it’s Monday.

Having tried it, CHS advises Archer and Brownlee not to tweet while riding (Image: SPD)

Tweet-along with East Precinct Bikes
Posted by Sgt. Sean Whitcomb
Ever wanted to go on a police ride along but never had the time? Curious as to what a day in the life of a Seattle Police bicycle officer looks like?  Now you can – virtually.

On Monday, the Seattle Police Department is proud to present its first ever “tweet-along”.  Follow East Precinct bike officers Ben Archer and Chris Brownlee as they go about a typical day patrolling Capitol Hill.  Police responses will be summarized in easily digestible bites of 140 characters or less.  Pictures will be included as appropriate.  Learn more about Officer Archer and Officer Brownlee and follow their shift Monday 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM by following us @SeattlePD on Twitter.

CHS hopes it gets to RT something like this:

  • @seattlepd: Let me tell you something, this is not an easy job. I get a call on the radio, dispatch, it’s bad news.

Or this:

  • @seattlepd: Serve the public trust, protect the innocent, uphold the law

Or this:

  • @seattlepd: Book ’em, Danno
