Former CH resident – collge b-ball star – cool sports history story
I came across this story recently…just a random, sort of feel-good story about a former (long-time) cap hill resident…(written in 2002)….the O’Brien family lived on Cap Hill until a few years ago.

Fifty years ago tonight, Seattle U. upset the mighty Globetrotters Fifty years ago tonight, on Jan. 21, 1952, also a Monday, the city was treated to one of its most endearing sports memories — Seattle University’s 84-81 upset victory over the Harlem Globetrotters at Hec Edmundson Pavilion.

Cookie Monster on Capitol Hill: ‘Why lie? ME NEED A COOKIE!!!’
We have been reading reports about this…
- 4/15/09 4:55 PM — BrittneyBush: Cookie Monster is begging for money on Broadway
- 4/15/09 6:14 PM – katlen: I just saw Cookie Monster begging on Broadway in Seattle
- 4/15/09 8:31 PM – endquote: A panhandler on Broadway is wearing a Cookie Monster costume. If I have to start regularly dodging muppets on my way to lunch, I’m moving.
- 4/18/09 9:00 PM – adambomb00: Cookie monster is panhandling in capitol hill. I love seattle.
But the first to capture an image of the Cap Hill Cookie Monster was Matt Hickey last night around 10. Cookie is a long way from Sesame Street. Hope he get his life together.

If you print it, share it. Oh, and show it to a potential advertiser or three. Happy weekend.

ShopRite is not burning
Seattle Fire Department dispatched a few units to the address where ShopRite is located on 15th Ave E around 3:30 PM but sounds like it was no big deal. Smoke coming from a light, we’re told. You may now continue shopping for spackle, cigarettes and polyester roses.
New SDOT ‘transportation options’ campaign targets Pike/Pine
More about this later but, for now, here’s some of the promotional schwag for Seattle Department of Transportation’s new campaign to encourage public transit, biking and walking in the Pike/Pine neighborhood. You’ll start to see these coasters around the neighborhood soon to thank you for skateboarding to the bar. Preaching to the converted, if you ask us. But with P/P parking on the road to change and further restriction including new metered spots, it looks like the city is trying to help balance things by encouraging your carbon-friendly behavior.
Belated Congrats, christinabollo and UNC

The Huskies lost, my team lost, my bracket was “busted” when Pittsburgh lost … none of which really excuses my failure to say this sooner. Apologies and congratulations, then, to christinabollo, who came in first in the CHS NCAA tournament pool. Way to go!
I remember hearing j mention a prize, but I don’t know what ended up happening with that …
Well, until next year, CHS bball watchers. Cheers and thanks for playing!
