Happy Hoopla! – UPDATE: With pictures!

UPDATE: Thanks for coming to Hoopla, everybody. Around 500 people came out on a freezing night to enjoy a Capitol Hill party. It was fun to be part of it. Here are a few pictures of the night. If you have more, leave a comment or send mail to [email protected] so we can share.

Original Post: As usual with CHS-related events, we’re not sure exactly how Capitol Hill Holiday Hoopla is going to turn out. We’ve had about 4x as many people say they are coming tonight than we expected. We have a secret DJ. We’re going to give a way a lot of free stuff. CHS will have a big bucket of crow buttons and, brace yourself, a few free t-shirts to hand out. We’ve also gone dry so more people can attend — so no booze but plenty of snacks. We’ve spread the fun around to local bars and watering holes — stop by Moe or the Sole Repair if you want to warm up before waiting in line to get into lovely Pravda Studios. Come early. Come late. But don’t come at 7p. And have a Happy Hoopla! We’ll also be broadcasting live from the party on and off through the night.

Was definitely above 500. I’d estimate between 600 and 700 total. Great event!

Somehow the low cost – or free booze samples fell thru – but that was OK.

For the first time, well done. Some merchants had scant offerings, non profits with the standard recruiting stuff should be grouped in one corner – they are not new – not exciting – exude little charm and give away high cost printing nobody reads.

100.00 in twinkie lights and some deck the halls greens would have been nice. So, talented pretty ladies stripping, fun – but what happened to the go go boys in underwear? Come on, it is the HILL.

Santa was there, very realistic live guy. Food samples were the hit, esp. cupcakes, ecream, hot dogs, most food sample people ran out … PRAVDA is great space, seems they donated completely the rental fee. Cheers to PRAVDA.

Cold did not deter turnout, clear sky, and very brisk. Very young crowd, free is a draw on modest salaries, long nights, empty Tue.

Best to all for the holidays, get out there and enjoy this season of things to do, people in a good mood.

(Black Nativity at Intamin is WONDERFUL, selling out, go if you can. Modest priced tks.)

You guys put together a great event last night. It was so fun meeting neighbors and finding out about new local businesses.

Thanks!

I added a few pics to the CHS Flickr group. Too busy meeting neighbors at the Blitz Capitol Hill Arts Walk table to take very many pictures.
Thanks to all who stopped by to pick up a map for the Arts Walk and get a sheet of wrapping paper designed by Ellen Forney.
Nice to meet so many hill neighbors!
