Summer outdoor movies in Cal Anderson Park start Friday

Seattle finally has its summer — stretches of sunny, warm brilliance followed by a chilled reminder that we live in the Pacific Northwest, South Alaska. On Friday, the equation will be complete. Three Dollar Bill Cinema kicks off its free movies in Cal Anderson park 2010 slate, Blonde But Not Forgotten, with a screening of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes:

Marilyn Monroe, the ultimate Hollywood blonde, stars with the legendary Jayne Russell in this madcap musical comedy. Featuring an iconic – and often imitated – performance of “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend.”

directed by Howard Hawks, 1953, 91 min.

CHS is a proud second-year sponsor of the series. You can see the rest of the 2010 line-up here. Watch for the CHS Crow on the big screen, too. We’ll also have some free Crow window clings available at the big show.

Details from Three Dollar Bill Cinema:

All screenings are FREE and begin at sunset (around 8:30/9pm) at the southeast corner of Capitol Hill’s Cal Anderson Park.

Concessions will be sold, and a limited number of lawn chairs available for rent.

Donations to Three Dollar Bill Cinema happily accepted. Proceeds benefit our efforts to promote LGBT film and visibility.

  1. Is there a movie showing this coming Friday, 8/2/12? If so what will be playing? Can you give me a website that will show most updated info? What time do you recommend for arrival to be able to get a good spot? Can we bring our own chairs?
