SUNDAY, Oct. 27: Sunday’s Frye Museum Halloween Tour is sold out, but if you’re still interested in seeing the exhibit of Unsettling Femininity: Selections from the Frye Art Museum Collection turned to the macabre by the magic of Diane Arbus and Pierre Leguillon then buy tickets for next Thursday’s tour.  Experience the unsettling on the most unsettling night of them all – Halloween.

The exhibit focuses on the representation of women in Western media and how we learn to interpret them as part of the cultural construct that we live in.  The subjects of the work are white women of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and presented in ways to emphasize their submissiveness, vulnerability, and sexual availability according to the Frye Museum. Organized around four primary themes—judgement, morality, performance, and artifice—the exhibition asks viewers to reconsider the very act of looking in all its positive and negative connotations. In doing so, it offers an invitation to unsettle and unpack these enduring, and often unquestioned, notions of femininity – Frye Museum

The tour is for mature audiences only (16 years and older).  Frye Museum, Sold Out.

Other possibilities for some Sunday fun are of course the Capitol Hill Farmers Market, located on Broadway from 11 AM – 3 PM or check out Comedy Church at Comedy on Broadway from 8:30 PM – 11:30 PM.
