SPD says its officers were conducting a “welfare check” after someone reported the downed male. There were no reports of disturbances in the area prior to the dispatch.
Police were collecting evidence including locating security cameras near where the man was found in a pool of blood by the dumpsters outside the All Seasons laundromat building just west of the Broadway Rite Aid, according to East Precinct radio reports.
Seattle Fire was also called but was released from the scene when it was determined the man was dead.
SPD is asking anybody with information to call the Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000.
The incident is the second homicide investigation on Capitol Hill in just over a week.
