The 89-year-old arrested for shooting and killing his wife inside their 15th Ave Square Park home has been charged with first degree murder.

In the charges, prosecutors say Isaac Ealy came to the East Precinct lobby last Tuesday to report his wife was dead where she fell days earlier in the 15th Ave home after he hit her once with a shotgun blast during an argument. Police sent to the house found 82-year-old Alice Scott dead in the bathroom of the small 15th Ave home.

Prosecutors say the couple had been married twenty years.

Ealy told police he and his wife “had a bad relationship” and that he had retrieved the shotgun from a basement freezer where it was kept “along with numerous other guns,” before returning to the house and shooting Scott once in the abdomen.

During the intervening days, police say Ealy told them he had told Scott’s son she was not home when he tried to visit. Ealy told police he was worried the man would find out what happened to his mother and try to hurt Ealy so he decided to tell police to keep the son from getting in trouble.

Another son told police his mother “was trying to move out of the house into her own place.”

Ealy remains jailed on $2 million bail. He has not yet entered a plea on the murder charge.
