Kitchen fire scorches 12th Ave’s Barrio restaurant — UPDATE

Smoke from Saturday’s fire — Posted to the CHS Facebook Group

A significant kitchen fire left at least least one person with burn injuries and damaged the Trace Loft North building on 12th Ave Saturday morning

Seattle Fire was called to the Barrio restaurant in the 1400 block 12th between Pine and Pike around 10:30 AM to reports of a fire inside the venue that was threatening the rest of the 100-unit condo building above.

There was at least one reported injury but we do not yet have details confirmed from Seattle Fire. UPDATE: SFD says no injuries.

12th Ave and Pike near the fire scene were closed during the response as firetrucks and emergency vehicles filled the area.

Trace North opened as new construction in 2007 next to its sibling Trace Lofts development that was converted from a one-time sewing machine warehouse into loft style condos.

Barrio, a Mexican restaurant concept from the company behind the Purple Wine Bar, debuted on 12th Ave in late 2008.

Seattle Fire reported the fire was under control by around 10:45 AM as crews were checking the structure for possible extension of the fire into the building.

UPDATE: Barrios says it will remain closed through at least Monday and are hoping to reopen “as soon as possible.”

Seattle Fire said it was investigating the blaze.
