Victim identified in Broadway alley shooting

A fundraiser has been organized to assist the victim’s family

The man shot and left to die in a Broadway alley over the weekend has been identified as Kidus Ayele.

Police found Ayele down in an alley near Broadway and Spruce, shot in the face and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds after gunfire was reported in the area around 12:30 AM Saturday, according to East Precinct radio. Seattle Fire says Ayele died at the scene.

Seattle Police said a search for the vehicle reported speeding away from the shooting was not successful and that there were no arrests.

According to Seattle Housing Authority and school records, Ayele has been a longtime resident of the area at a nearby Fir Street address.

The King County Medical Examiner says Ayele died of a gunshot wound to the torso.

He was 30 years old.

SPD says it is unknown what led up to the shooting. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact police.

The homicide was the second incident of deadly gun violence this month in the East Precinct. A 23-year-old was gunned down early on July 1st in an E Pine parking lot amid Pride weekend nightlife crowds.

Y didn’t you just stick to working instead of being involved in gangs?

Where did you see the victim was involved in gangs? Like is there an actual source saying so or are you just making assumptions based on his race?
