A pedestrian struck by a driver Thursday night on Broadway was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Seattle Fire says it responded to the collision at Broadway and Harrison just before 6 PM. According to SFD and emergency radio updates, the man was struck by a driver in a black Honda Fit in a “high impact” collision that left the victim down and unresponsive in the northbound lane.
The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Harborview in serious condition, SFD reports.
Police at the scene reported taking one person into custody but we don’t have additional information on the arrest at this time.
Broadway was closed to traffic during the response.
UPDATE: Records indicate SPD was investigating the incident as a DUI crash.

People be driving like itβs the Indianapolis 500 on some of these streets like Broadway or Boren. I always look thrice before crossing and never assume a car is going to stop.
If SPD wants to be trusted again, start protecting pedestrians and increase traffic patrols within the busiest intersections where people speed and impound (hell, even destroy) the vehicles of repeat offenders. Cars have ruined our entire planet. If we want people to use public transit for a greener future, we NEED to crack down on all car drivers and actually enforce speed limits within the city. 50mph =/= 25mph Also, we need more advocacy for the installation of more traffic circles and curb bulbs, protected bike lanes, bollards, and any other physical barriers to driving imaginable. Cover the entire road network in rumble strips…I don’t care. Cars don’t live here, people do. They should have no free access to anything. People need the free parking lol, not cars…it’s called social housing.
I want to know how the current conservative, business-backed city council members plan to address this disturbing trend as it sweeps our city, making it more dangerous, loud, and toxic by the day. You have yet to prove your worth during your tenure, and Rinck voters like me are sick of the delay!!!

They already did…
The took a couple hundred million from housing to pay for ghost cops that do not exist.
They plan to scare them away with poverty and “law and order”
Horrible. My prayers for the victim. The drivers around here are totally out of control.
I’m not shocked at all. Lowell had bingo night that might and me and another family were walking to the school and people were speeding down Harrison. I’m pretty sure the same car almost hit all 5 of us but us parents saw the car was not slowing down and pulled the kids out of the way. This is a common occurrence day or night it seems.
