A man was shot and killed overnight inside a First Hill apartment.
The Seattle Police Department reports officers attempted CPR as Seattle Fire arrived at the scene inside a first floor unit of the Tuscany Apartments. SPD says the 40-year-old died at the scene.
According to East Precinct radio updates, police were called to the Seneca at Summit apartment building just before 1:45 AM to reports of someone yelling to call 911 followed by a report of gunfire.
Arriving officers found the man down inside the unit and suffering from a gunshot wound to the back.
Witnesses reported a male fleeing from the scene. He was described as a black male, wearing all black clothing with a bicycle.
Police were checking nearby nearby hospitals for the possibly injured suspect or possible additional victims but none were located.
A person with a reported grazing bullet wound to the shoulder was also being treated at the scene, according to radio updates. We’re checking to confirm if the injuries were determined to be related to the shooting. UPDATE: SPD has declined to provide further information about the shooting. “This is an open and active homicide investigation,” a spokesperson said. “We are not releasing any further information at this time.”
Officers were collecting evidence in the area including video from nearby security cameras. Police say homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Wednesday’s homicide is the second investigated in the East Precinct and reported as the 9th so far in the city in 2025. A 30-year-old man as arrested and charged in this February 1st murder in a conflict over a scooter at a 12th Ave encampment.
2024 included 14 East Precinct homicides including in the early hours of December 31st when 29-year-old Jonny Adamowย was shot and killedย in what is believed to have been a botched ambush targeting another person at the troubled intersection. There have been no arrests announced in Adamowโs murder.
