- Broadway stabbing: A man was stabbed and police were looking for a suspect reportedly carrying a six-inch kitchen knife in an assault near Broadway and John just after midnight Monday morning. According to emergency radio updates, the victim was stabbed in the altercation by a suspect described as a white male in his 50s with grey curly hair. Seattle Fire says the 31-year-old victim was transported to Harborview in stable condition.
- Attempted carjacking: Police investigated a reported attempted carjacking on Broadway near Seattle Central Sunday night. According to police, the victim reported he was unloading a black Mercedes around 6:30 PM when two male teen suspects wearing ski masks and carrying “AR style firearms” drove up in a red SUV and demanded his keys. The suspect said he told the thieves the keys for the car were in another vehicle and the two suspects decided to flee the scene. Police were looking for the red SUV that matched the details of a recently stolen KIA but were unable to track down the suspects.
- 12th Ave beating: Police say a resident was severely beaten in a Saturday afternoon, August 23rd incident at 12th Ave’s St. Francis House:
At 1500 hours, a suspect became irate that someone had stolen his bike. After walking around the complex knocking on random doors, an altercation occurred with a resident. The suspect then pulled the resident from his apartment, beat him with a baseball bat, and drug him to the elevator. After taking the elevator down to the ground level, the suspect then drug the victim out onto the sidewalk, where he left him before going back into the building. SPD arrived, found the victim severely injured, and pursued the suspect when he fled from the rear of the building.
The suspect was not immediately located. - Broadway brawl: Police breaking up a large fight in the 1500 block of Broadway early Monday morning ended up in a tangle with friends of the suspect they were arresting. SPD says officers saw about a dozen people brawling around 3:15 AM and moved in to break up the melee, making one arrest. As they placed the suspect in a police cruiser at the scene, police say the suspect’s friends began to assault officers. “While preparing to leave the area to book the suspect, a friend of the suspect’s approached the police vehicle he was in and attempted to open the front passenger side door after officers had repeatedly warned him to leave the area and stay out of the road,” SPD reports. “He then grabbed an officer and Sergeant, ripping the officer’s vest apart, while another friend fought three different officers.” Police say all three were arrested. There were no reported serious injuries.
- Low blow in Pike/Pine: A police officer called to an altercation outside the nightlife venues at 10th and Pike suffered a low blow Monday night. According to SPD, police were called to a disturbance between security at one of the businesses and the suspect. As they intervened, police say the suspect kicked an officer “directly in the groin, causing immediate pain and distress” —
The officer, exhibiting commendable professionalism, managed to subdue the suspect quickly and take them into custody. However, the suspect lashed out again, kicking another officer in the leg.
Police took the man into custody and transported him to Harborview for treatment for minor injuries suffered in the altercation with security. He was later booked into King County jail for assault. The officers struck by the man suffered “minor injuries,” SPD reports. - Airsoft hold-up: Police investigated a reported armed robbery near Pine and Harvard last Tuesday morning:
At 0342 hours, victim was walking down the street and suspect walked up to victim, placed gun in the victim’s back and stole the victim’s backpack. Officers responded to the scene and located 2 of the suspects at 1609 Harvard Av parking garage. The victim’s backpack was recovered but contents of the bag were missing.
Police say both suspects were arrested and booked into King County Jail. The gun recovered was reported to be an air pistol. Two additional suspects were not tracked down. - Victim jumps out of car at Bellevue/Pike: Last Tuesday afternoon just before 2 PM brought a robbery investigation near Bellevue and Pike where the victim reportedly leapt to escape from inside a speeding vehicle:
At 1350 hours, officers responded to a reported robbery in the area of Bellevue Avenue and East Pike Street. Upon arrival, the officers immediately began canvassing the area for the suspect’s vehicle. They made contact with the victim, a male in his mid-30s, who recounted that he had been inside the suspect’s vehicle, which was being driven by a female accomplice. The main suspect, identified only by the name “Hunter,” demanded cash from the victim in a threatening manner. When the victim refused to comply, Hunter became aggressive, striking him on the back of the head with a hard object, which the victim believed could have been a firearm.
“In a desperate attempt to escape the escalating violence, the victim leaped out of the moving vehicle at the intersection of Bellevue Avenue and East Pike Street, sustaining various injuries as he fell to the ground,” SPD reports. Seattle Fire treated the victim and transported him to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There were no reported arrests. - 14/Jefferson DUI hit and run: Police made a DUI arrest in a reported hit and run the night of Sunday, August 24th at 14th and Jefferson:
At 2109 hours, officers responded to a hit and run incident in the east precinct area where the suspect had fled the scene. Officers conducting an area check observed the suspect vehicle a few blocks from the initial scene. The suspect who was observed exiting the vehicle and fleeing the scene after crashing into a roundabout, was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit. He was later booked into the KCJ for DUI, Hit & Run Attended, DWLS 3RD, Operating motor vehicle without ignition interlock, and Obstruction.
