While patrons look for a new location for the Saint Rat rat gallery near Cal Anderson Park, here are a few more neighborhood art notes:
- New mural: There is a new mural above Nagle Place on the back of the Broadway Building. Neighborhood real estate and development firm Hunters Capital says the work was painted by the Urban ArtWorks’ Base Crew,” a program for young artists to grow their design skills and connect with the community through art.”
- Art on the Howe Street Stairs: Thanks to this report in the CHS Facebook Group for bringing attention to a new little artful addition at the top of the Howe Street Stairs. Check it out on your next hike between Capitol Hill and Eastlake.

- Get an ‘Arts in Parks’ grant: The city’s Seattle Office of Arts & Culture’s Arts in Parks grant is now open for applications. This partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation “recognizes that arts, cultural activities, and parks are essential to vibrant, healthy, and inclusive communities.” Awards of $2,000, $4,000, $6,000, and $8,000 are available for “new and established projects that promote arts and cultural participation in underserved and economically challenged areas of Seattle.” You can learn more and apply here.

- Not really art… but kinda artful: Another update from the CHS Facebook Group took notice of these weird but kind of wonderful handmade signs near the construction site at Broadway and Pine. Some find them “unofficial” while others enjoy the quirk. Still more would like the crews there to do an even better job making it safe for pedestrians, riders, and drivers passing through the area with better signage and barricades. The construction site will be the future Constellation Center and a new eight-story affordable apartment project slated to open at the corner in 2027.
