When will we say it’s enough and crack down on the gangs, and the criminals foaming at capiol hill.

Bellevue doesn’t deal with this. Kirkland doesn’t. Queen Anne doesn’t. Why do we have to?

Because… duh!? Downtown is not fun and the other neighborhoods where “gang violence” used to reside are now gentrified. So they converge on Capitol Hill to kick it and feel like they are apart of a community. Like every community priced out and moved out of their once home. And then there are the transplants who don’t know where to be but where the drama is. They are young and bored, and have social media to create content for. Sorry but Capitol Hill is the set and the back drop and the place to be ratchet. Cause who hangs out in pioneer square… enjoy the SODA ZONE.

In his mind it makes perfect sense. No need to think critically.

So how do you think Kirkland stays so pristine? Is it:
a.) impenetrable to drugs, poverty, crime and mental illness
b.) has added affordable housing and offers help to people struggling with addiction, mental illness, and poverty
c.) sends their criminals and undesirables across the lake to Seattle so it becomes our problem.
d.) sucks so bad that people would rather choose to be homeless here than spend another second there

Which do you think it is? And more importantly, why don’t you just move there? Did you not meet the criteria for their perfect society? Did you get caught with a counterfeit Costco card?

3 people were fatally shot on Kirkland Ave in June of this year… so pristine.

When east link is completed across Lake Washington, maybe we’ll be able to share the “wealth” with Bellevue.

It’s mainly so the wealthy no longer sits in bridge traffic.

The residents of and visitors to the cities of Bellevue and Kirkland and the neighborhood of Queen Anne will be glad to learn there is no violent crime in those places. Though publicly available crime reports and statistics would completely differ from your blatant misinformation.

Your emotions are valid. Your misinformation is not and helps nothing.

There were multiple shootings and gun incidents in Bellevue this summer alone… you might want to try Google.

really? Gee…How is the the wealthiest areas with mainly single family homes have less crime?

My opinion? If you can’t figure it out? You are dense as lead.

He is one of the worst posters here. Whining about homeless constantly in every thread. This was a shooting by non homeless people and he still whines.

Can you move there?

those are cities/neighborhoods that are FAR less dense and far less centrally-located than we are, so not really a logical comparison!

Why can’t SPD EVER catch criminals within a few block radius of the East precinct? Absolutely disgracefu and worthless. Rescind their bonuses and fire all of them.

or, hear me out because this is a really radical idea, hire MORE cops!

They’re useless. And of course the more useless they are, the more they can say “Look if you want us to solve any crime you can shovel hundreds of millions more into the budget”…..and then do nothing. It’s infuriating.
SPOG is basically a government-sanctioned mob boss as far as I can tell lol

Every single person in this situation chose to act the way that they did. It is not society’s fault. It’s not “systemic this” or “structural that.”

It is their fault.

More than one thing can be true at the same time. People don’t exist in isolation of the surrounding world. And if you want there to be anything done to help reduce these issues, looking at systemic and structural issues and taking relevant actions based on those facts has made and can make a positive difference.

If you actually disagree with that, then you are essentially saying nothing can be done on a community, local, regional or federal level. I think that point of view absolves the surrounding world of any responsibility and accountability to help individuals and the community, such as through accessible social services, healthcare, education, mentorship, and other positive things that everyone can benefit from.

Where exactly did you get the “systemic this” or “structural that,” you’re responding to…? Are you just looking for something to be mad at? (Also, do you really believe people and their circumstances/choices exist in a vacuum? Lmao)

You live in a society with so many individuals choosing this, and don’t think there’s anything to it at all.

My girlfriend and I were there for the whole thing. It was homeless or mentally ill. It was two groups getting into it in front of Paradise which was hosting a DJ event. And the shooter was a white woman who went and grabbed the gun out of her suv and shot into the crowd.

There are SDOT traffic cameras on Broadway. Hopefully it will just be a matter of time before someone pays for firing a gun into a crowd.

I have to assume that your comment is satire. Wilson will be soft on crime, if elected.

On Sunday, I came past Broadway and Harrison an hour after this. I was wondering what was going on. Ironically, someone was robbed at gunpoint on June 19 at that same intersection but on the western side. I really wonder if SODA should be extended to Roy street.

I’m glad the security at the QFC isn’t being lenient with drug addicts that have been loitering around there. They’ve been less of them lately but I know it’s only cyclical and they’ll be back. I’m also happy that the Roni Lee apartments finally installed a gate in front of the steps of the apartment complex. That was basically a gathering spot for drug addicts for the past five years.
