A decade of queer-owned, woman-owned E Madison burgers is wrapping up with a final weekend of business before the planned Halloween closure of Two Doors Down.
“Our story is by no means sad. We have had a remarkable ten-year run on East Madison Street, and the time has simply come to move on,” the burger joint posted about its impending closure:
We’ve been lucky. Not every spot in Seattle has the benefit of being surrounded by such great neighbors – neighbors who stood six feet apart on the sidewalk waiting on burgers during the Covid shutdown, neighbors who scrambled across plywood planks to get to our door when the sidewalks were removed during the Rapid Bus line construction project —neighbors who care. We’ve also had the benefit of employing talented, dedicated folks who consistently show up – not just to do their job but to represent the restaurant. We’ve had a landlord who stood by us and a bevy of regulars who stopped by weekly. And we’ve had excellent friends – and made some more.
The closure marks the end of owner Erin Nestor’s long run on the block. Last year, CHS reported on the sale of the Two Doors sibling Bottleneck Lounge to new ownership.
Nestor opened Two Doors two doors down from the Bottleneck in 2015 ,overhauling the former home to the faded glory of Philadelphia Fevre into a two-level burger joint.
At one point, there were two Two Doors Downs in the city including a spin-off on S Jackson that closed previously.
Now, the original E Madison is also set to shutter. The corner along the newly opened RapidRide G line shouldn’t be quiet long. The 1,600-square-foot space along the slope down to Madison Valley is lined up for a new restaurant project. More details on that, soon.

Nooooo! This bums me out. You’ll be missed.
Bummer! This has been my go to burger spot for the last few years. I’m going to miss it. Best of luck to the owners on their next venture!
That’s unfortunate. Really liked that spot. Parking was always going to be an issue though.
So sad! We love Two Doors Down. It was a favorite for our whole family, easy walking distance from our house. Tasty burgers, great staff. :(
So sad about this. My son’s fav restaurant bar none—it’s where we go for birthdays, post-baseball, whatevs.
Get ready. More to come with this $3/hr min wage bump.
The one and only place I know of that served deep fried avocado sandwiches. So good.
