Sunday, the Pride flag was raised above Seattle’s City Hall as a month of Pride celebration begins in the city. Capitol Hill’s June 2014 Pride calendar is a busy one. We’ve highlighted the best events for everybody below. Let us know about any fun times we’ve missed and we’ll add to the roster. The neighborhood’s nightlife will also kick into high gear with street parties and beer gardens sprouting every which way you look. You can keep track of those and all things Pride via grandaddy Seattle Gay News and the young upstart Seattle Gay Scene. We’ll also be out and about capturing the colors of the celebration again later this month. Happy Pride 2014.
- June 8th: Gay Day of Service – Capitol Hill Clean Sweep
This year’s Clean Sweep will take place on Sunday, June 8th, beginning at 10AM at the Cal Anderson Shelter House. Breakfast and coffee will be served to volunteers from Supporting Sponsor Starbucks and lunch will be provided by local Capitol Hill eateries. Entertainment will be provided and every volunteer will receive a t-shirt to commemorate the event. All cleaning supplies are provided. You just need to show up! More info / 2013 Pictures
- June 14th: Pride Picnic in Volunteer Park, Capitol Hill Garage Sale Day in Cal Anderson

Seattle Pride and The Seattle Lesbian have teamed up to celebrate 40 years of barrier breaking women in Seattle with their pre-Pride funk Seattle Women’s Pride.In homage to the Women’s Liberation Movement, the party hosts will invite women to “leave their bras at the door” (literally and figuratively) and have a little fun before Pride Weekend!
Giveaways will be revealed every hour and live entertainment will play throughout the evening.
- June 27th: Trans* Pride Parade

There’s a brand new signature Pride event on Capitol Hill as PrideFest is expanding its Family Day in Cal Anderson Park to include a street fair, food trucks and more fun. CHS wrote about the new effort from producer Egan Orion here. Runs noon to 9 PM. More infoThe Capitol Hill Pride Festival on Broadway is back for another year running from 11a to 10p on the 28th. Promising live music, food, vendors, and ponies, you should enjoy “the largest Pride Street Festival in the Northwest” while you can. Organized by former Broadway business owner Charlette LeFevre, the festival has grown into a big part of Capitol Hill’s annual LGBTQ celebration but closing Broadway won’t be an option once work on extending the First Hill streetcar toward Volunteer Park begins. Meanwhile, the annual Seattle Dyke March starts with a Seattle Central rally at 5p. Quake Rugby says the 2014 edition of their annual Prom Dress Rugby game is definitely a go
but they haven’t announced an official date yet. We’re predicting the 28th :)The game will be held Saturday, June 28th from 2 to 4 PM on the Bobby Morris playfield. - June 29th: Pride Parade and PrideFest at Seattle Center — Aleksa Manila and George Takei are Grand Marshals for this year’s 40th anniversary “Generations of Pride” event.
