Hilloween lives! Pictures from masked and vaxxed Pike/Pine — Plus, where to trick or treat on Capitol Hill

There will probably never be a moment when we get to say, “It’s over. We made it!” But a Saturday Hilloween weekend night with people crowding Broadway and Pike/Pine and filling Capitol Hill vaccination-required bars and restaurants felt like one of the moments along the way.

83% of King County adults are fully vaccinated. Proof of vaccination or a recent negative test is required. Happy Hilloween 2021.

Below, CHS shares images from the night from around Pike/Pine and inside a few venues where vaccination card carrying people celebrated the holiday. We also have some trick or treating advice to hand out.

You won’t see as many big haunted houses and yard decorations this year, but there will still be lots of trick or treating. The Hill’s Trick or Treat Hot Zone didn’t form just because of fancy decorations. Walkable streets with lots of single family style houses means plenty of people passing out candy. 2021 will likely continue to feature socially distanced candy chutes for many. Masks remain recommended — if you want candy. The CDC says you’ll do better to wear a facemask, too.

Also, DO NOT TRY TO DRIVE OR PARK in the area. You’ll suffer eternal doom. Jump on the bus, pool to the edges, or walk or ride.

While the weekend’s celebrations and events remain limited by COVID-19 restrictions and concerns of transmission rates remaining at “substantial” levels in Seattle, Hilloween is alive.

Be safe and have fun.
