One person was shot after an altercation in an alley near E Denny and E Olive Way.
SPD confirmed it was responding to the Saturday afternoon shooting and said the suspect had fled the scene. The person hit was not immediately located but eventually was found after a 911 call from a unit in a nearby apartment building where Seattle Fire was sent to provide treatment and transport the man to the hospital.
According to East Precinct radio updates, witnesses reported gunfire and a man in a Santa hat and another man in an altercation in the alley area behind the Capitol Hill Goodwill around 1:30 PM.
Police were searching the area for the shooting suspect. There were no immediate arrests.

At about 1:30p.m., officers responded to East Denny Way and Summit Avenue for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, police found spent shell casings in a parking lot in the 1600 block of East Olive Way β but no victim. The victim eventually called 911, and officers contacted him in the 1700 block of Belmont Avenue with a gunshot wound to the leg. Seattle Fire Department medics treated the 50-year-old man at the scene and then transported him to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition. According to the victim, an unknown suspect followed him off a bus, shot him, and then fled on foot.
