• Capitol Hill Art Walk — Thursday, April 13th — Check out Reverberation, Photographic Center Northwest’s 25th Juried Exhibition, Feminist Masculinity Posters & Quality Agitation from Boycott Society at Rose Temple Bar, or MOTHERLAND from Natasha Marin at Vermillion, the latest in Marin’s Black Imagination constellation of exhibitions.
• Sexy Jesus Competition — Sunday, April 17th — 11th Ave’s The Woods hosts an Easter Sunday celebration of everybody’s favorite carpenter with cash prizes for the sexiest Jesuses — plural. Starts at 5 PM… and there will be ice cream.

• Moisture Festival 2022: The annual celebration of comedy and varieté is underway again in 2022 through April 10th with performances at the Broadway Performance Hall and — for the last season — at Hale’s Palladium.
• Gatto Nero: Cafe Racer hosts a fundraiser Saturday for Seattle’s Malacarne company from choreographer Alice Gosti.
• Bang the Gong: Stop into Chop Suey for the Sunday all-Asian drag show created and powered by Whispurr Water-Shadow.
• UPDATE! Bait Shop Gala: We are pretty sure this event planned for Broadway’s Bait Shop is NOT an April Fools’ Day prank:

April 1st, The Bait Shop Endowment for the Arts presents the first annual BAIT GALA. The theme for 2022 is ROCK BOTTOM: An Exploration of Deep Sea Fashion. This evening will showcase the most illustrious fashion designs of the highest order, with an emphasis on the sludgy excess of oceanic opulence. We will have a red carpet, flash photography, appetizers served on hotel trays, and the soft, ambient electronic sounds of shopping at the Southcenter Mall Wet Seal. Costumes are recommended.

Sunday could be a historic day for you.

The Capitol Hill Historical Society — formed only a few years back — will hold its 2022 annual meeting Sunday and everybody is invited.

It’s a good opportunity to get involved. “Though we will have some official membership business, such as voting in the board for the upcoming year, all are welcome, whether members or not,” the invite on the CHS Calendar reads.

Formed way back in the mid-2010s, the society is dedicated to documenting the many histories of Capitol Hill and helping to preserve some of its oldest and most important structures. Continue reading →

Shop the Hill, the long running effort from CHS, is partnering again with the GSBA and the Capitol Hill Business Alliance for the free service to help promote local retailers and small businesses and share updates on promotions, deals, and holiday offerings.
