Happy 20th birthday to Capitol Hill-born Top Pot Doughnuts

Top Pot cafes including the original Summit Ave location are celebrating Tuesday as the company marks 20 years in the doughnut business.

You can join the party as Top Pot is offering its original glazed old-fashioneds for 20 cents each.

As it reached its tenth birthday in 2012, CHS reported on some of the history of Top Pot including its Capitol Hill birth:

Quite often we receive inquiries as to where the first Top Pot cafe is located. The cafe is located at 609 Summit Ave E in north Capitol Hill and proudly displays the original neon sign. The letter “S” that once made up the center of the sign fell off along Interstate 5 and was replaced with a metal percolator shown here

Meanwhile, upon its 20th anniversary, Top Pot finds its home neighborhood doughnut community still growing. In January, vegan donut joint Dough Joy debuted on E Pike.

The neighborhood’s donut scene was previously upgraded in October 2019 when Top Pot founder Michael Klebeck opened Half on Half on E Pike. More donut goodness is coming to the area. The Central District’s Raised Doughnuts will move into the new Midtown Square development when the mixed-use project completes construction later this year.
