- Melee outside Still Liquor: Melrose was filled with cop cars and officers after a reported gold chain robbery and threats to shoot up a nearby club sparked a major disturbance early Saturday morning. Two people were arrested. Police arrived at the melee around 1:15 AM to a report of a dozen or so people fighting outside Still Liquor and a male threatening to start shooting. According to the SPD report on the incident, police were able to chase down one suspect after a short foot pursuit. The other was taken into custody after victims reported he had come up to them outside the Minor Ave bar, punched them multiple times, and snapped a gold chain from one of their necks. Meanwhile, police say the mugger’s companion went to a nearby vehicle to retrieve something during the disturbance and attempted to reenter Still Liquor. According to the SPD report, security at the bar said when they barred the man from entering, he threatened to begin shooting, saying “Don’t you know who I am?” and “I’m going to shoot up this club with my .44.” As police arrived, the suspect making the threats took off on foot before being chased down and taken into custody. He was arrested for investigation of harassment. His companion was taken into custody for investigation of robbery. There were no reported serious injuries.
